Andy Krockel

To be called the most experienced darts player in Germany is some accolade... that is Andreas Krockel - a proud member of Team Unicorn Global.

Andy is a three times German Masters Champion - a terrific achievement because the tournament is the biggest in the German Darts Federation calendar.

Krockel has been riding high in the German Darts Federation rankings for many years and he is also on the verge of a notable personal milestone……50 appearances for his country, which is some going!

He still plays some PDC events under the German Darts Corporation banner and simply loves his darts!

He has quite a darting pedigree. Andy has beaten the likes of John Lowe, Eric Bristow, John Part and Raymond Van Barneveld in international competition and has played a record 46 times for Germany, as well as winning a record 25 German championships.

Krockel also played at the 1996 World Championships and in the same year finished in 5th place at the World Cup. It was his TV debut at The Lakeside and he lost narrowly to Scotland’s Alan Brown.

He has been at the top of the German rankings many times and has played at the World Masters several times.

“For a German darts player, there is nothing better than to be part of Team Unicorn. I have always dreamt of a sponsorship chance like this and it is amazing to be part of the best team in world darts.” he enthused.

Andy is 40-years-old and lives in Essen. Married to Trixi, he has one daughter Sabrina and away from the oche, he is a huge football fan - supporting his hometown team “Rot-Weiss Essen”. He works as an electrician and has been playing darts at the highest level in Germany for 20 years.

Expect to see Krockel in more PDC events. “Now the WDF and PDC have closer links, it means I can still play for the German National team, as well as WDF opens….but it would be a great honour to play in the PDC.”

His big ambition now is to become the next German at the World Championships at the Alexandra Palace. Fellow countrymen Tomas Seyler and Andre Welge have already made quite an impression at the tournament over the last couple of years….and great friend Michael Rosenauer, as well as Mensur Suljovic played at the 2008 World Championship.

He said: “I dream about being part of the Ladbrokes.com World Championships and I think I could do really well. The sponsorship from Unicorn has given me something extra to go for.”

Andy Krockel genuinely believes it’s not too late to make a name for himself and German darts in the PDC.
